JamesJoyce was the eldest of 10 children, and his father did not earn a stable living. Joyce began living with Nora Barnacle in 1904 and married her in 1931. Nora was the model for the character Molly Bloom in Ulysses. They had two children: a son, Giorgio, born in 1905, and a daughter, Lucia, born in 1907.
Eventsin Dublin today will indirectly celebrate the first date between James Joyce and the woman who became his wife, Nora Barnacle. But across the Irish Sea, in a cemetery in Northampton

JamesJoyce’s love letters will make you want to burn your copy of Ulysses. We think back to the time of the early twentieth century and we imagine polite and prudish people gasping in horror at the sight of a kneecap. However, James Joyce’s love letters to his wife Nora Barnacle will have you viewing the early 1900s in a whole new light. Qj0ZBpb.
